Cross-Country Skiing in the Rockies

Fernie's proximity to its ski resort makes it a great place to cross-country ski. Both the town and ski resort boast a network of groomed trails, and the town's relatively low altitude means that skiers enjoy Alpine views and tree lined trails.

For people interested in ski touring, there are some excellent day routes that incorporate the resort's ski lifts and cross over the Lizard Ridge, returning via Fernie Provincial Park.

Fernie ALpine Resort has Kms of Groomed trails, and the town and area is blessed with scenic Sub-Alpine wooded cross-country routes

For guests staying at Elk View Lodge, they have access almost directly onto some of the best ski touring areas, with the Morrissey Ridge, Coal Creek and Castle Mountain beckoning for the more adventurous.

Elk Valley Vacations are pleased to have an exclusive special relationship with a vastly experienced Cross Country ski intructor who will be available for lessons. Having skied competitively within Canada, he will bring a new dimension to anyone's langlaufing abilities.
